A Visit to Ansel Adams House

Check out this video showcasing the work of Ansel Adams in the very home that breathed his creativity.

I sometimes forget that some of the genius of photography isn’t done all in camera at the time the photo is taken. Ansel created the most beautiful photos through his techniques in exposure and developing.

I also loved the use of dark walls with splashes of vibrant colour throughout his home in Carmel, California. It’s such a great choice to use black/dark grey on the walls and large white matting to accentuate the beauty of the photographs adorning the wall in comparison to the white many people seem to think is more gallery-like.

Edit 04/30/17: The original video posted in this article is no longer available. I have posted a similar video that looks into Ansel Adams’ home.

  1. Very beautiful. I absolutely love the grey walls with the matting.
