QUOTE OF THE DAY: Perseverance

Welcome to Art Departmental’s first regular feature blog entry. This week’s topic is perseverance.

I find Wednesday (Hump-day, as they say) to be the worst day of the week as many often do. So every week I will be adding a new quote to motivate you to get through the week. Whether you’re bored in the production office or on that 16th hour of filming and they still have 2 set-ups and 6 shots left I hope you find the strength to make it through the day.

“The will to persevere is often the difference between failure and success.”

– David Sarnoff

“The thrill, believe me, is as much in the battle as in the victory.”

– David Sarnoff

Who is this smart David Sarnoff fellow? He invented the concept of the “Radio Music Box”. At the time, radio was only used for the military and shipping. His superiors found his ideas of having entertainment on the radio and selling it commercially preposterous in 1915. In 1919 things changed and the radio as we know it today began to emerge. He continued to fight for his vision of the radio and its programming but learned to relish the hardships as much as any victory.

So go on now and continue working, job-searching, creating, inventing; whatever it is you were put onto this planet to do- DO IT. The struggle can be the best part.
