I had the pleasure of visiting the Dolemite Is My Name Costume Design Exhibit at TIFF Bell Lightbox today which runs from September 5th until September 15th. Dolemite Is My Name Costume Designer and Academy Award winner Ruth E. Carter has put together an exquisite collection of her work for display. Production Designer Clay A. Griffith also showcases set pieces and furniture from the film that let viewers see the level of detail and authenticity they used to create the world of Rudy Ray Moore circa 1975.
Within the exhibit you’ll find traces of the story about an entertainer who pulled himself up from nothing, believed in his dreams, and inspired generations of spoken-word artists. Dolemite Is My Name premieres in theatres in a limited release on October 4th before it starts streaming wide to global audiences on Netflix on October 25, 2019.
Below you’ll find a preview of what you will see at the Dolemite Is My Name Costume Design Exhibit.
