Check Out the Epic Production Design in the Barbie Official Trailer

The Barbie official trailer was released today and gives many more clues as to the plot of the film with fantastic glimpses of the epic sets created by production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer.

The Barbie official trailer has just dropped, inviting you to enter the vibrant world of Barbie Land, where perfection reigns supreme in an endless celebration. Directed by Greta Gerwig, Barbie promises a dazzling escape into a realm of colour and glamour. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling play Barbie and Ken and embody these iconic characters in a flawless plastic paradise.

Yet, the narrative takes an intriguing turn as Barbie and Ken venture into the real world. Introducing them to the complexities of human life, the film turns their dreamlike existence into a journey of self-discovery. The star-studded cast, featuring America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, and Will Ferrell, looks to bring humour and depth to the story, with the hope that Barbie is not merely a visual spectacle but also a thought-provoking exploration of identity.

With sets crafted by six-time Oscar-nominated production designer Sarah Greenwood, known for her work on Beauty and the Beast and Anna Karenina, the production design undoubtedly leads the film’s aesthetic richness. The set decoration, handled by frequent Greenwood collaborator Katie Spencer, adds layers of brand history to the immersive Barbie universe.

Greta Gerwig’s creative vision, in collaboration with Oscar-nominated writer Noah Baumbach, is promising. Going beyond the glossy facade of Barbie Land, they explore the essence of humanity as they navigate the real world. With a release date set for July 21, 2023, Barbie is poised to captivate audiences worldwide, offering a perfect blend of fantasy and reality in a unique cinematic experience.
