The Oscar-nominated Production Designers and Set Decorators from Beauty and the Beast, Blade Runner 2049, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk and The Shape of Water discussed their craft today at the 12th Annual Art of Production Design Oscar Panel presented by the Art Directors Guild and Set Decorators Society of America in association with the American Cinematheque. This year’s Oscars production design panel, sponsored by The Hollywood Reporter, was held at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
Moderating the Oscars production design panel discussion was the Art Director Guild’s past president Thomas A. Walsh, and Set Decorators Society of America member Jan Pascale.
The Oscar-nominated panelists included production designer Paul Denham Austerberry with set decorators Jeffrey A. Melvin and Shane Vieau for their work on The Shape of Water, production designer Sarah Greenwood with set decorator Katie Spencer for their work on both Beauty and the Beast and Darkest Hour, production designer Nathan Crowley with set decorator Gary Fettis for their work on Dunkirk, and last but not least production designer Dennis Gassner with set decorator Alessandra Querzola for their work on Blade Runner 2049.
For the first time ever, the annual ADG Production Design Oscar Panel was live-streamed by the American Cinematheque and the Art Directors Guild. You can watch the event below.
